too right, i will try and upload pictures this evening showing the particles, but they would definatly be big enough to cause blockages in heads, pumps, stat housings etc.
atleast its a loverly day to be undera bongo in a pool of water?! lol

Hi spana,
Sorry to hear about your problems,I would be concerned about the (plume of blacky blue smoke)if it still exists.
I would also get your vehicle checked out by a mechanic before you start throwing money at it.
All the best...

smoke seems to have gone?! just put some flushing liquid through it and warmed it up slightly.
now time for a sit in the garden whilst it cools down to drain, re-flush and then re-bleed.

no the oil cooler is IN THE BOTTOM 2 INCH OF THE RAD if this has poped its contents of copper gauze like material would be released into the coolant system.also you could have coolant in your gbox if its an auto.check the g/box on the dipstick and its condition.

just a quick update, phoned ian taylor's today. he rekons its most likely the head has gone, the copper in the coolant is an additive put in by the previous owner?! it may have caused damage to water pump etc....
i shall be dropping it off on wednesday for him to check over and then repair. so fingers crossed its not anything more
looks like ive been screwed over, which is quite annying really

At least it's in the right place to get sorted.
Did you get it for a good price? I'm afraid if you bought it "as seen" that would have rung alarm bells with me, ie why is it being sold on just after having a load of work done/money spent on it?
You've got a pm.

I think this situation is going to be happening much more often as more peeps resort to "steel seal" to effect a short term fix.....I can understand why it is done but 6 months later when perhaps the vehicle is still running fine and it's time to sell. Are they going to declare that the head/gasket went months ago and they fixed it with "steel seal" (or whatever)

i got it relativly cheap i supose, got a "free drive away awning and sun shades two" but to be honest, i'd have given them up for a wagon that actually worked lol.
just been in to see the garage that put the head gasket on it, basically they were told, "sort head gasket out as cheap as poss as im selling it" apparently head went away to the company that they deal with to pressure test etc, it "had gone between 2 and 3"
so it was skimmed and painted up etc, then re installed.
the garage had problems bleeding system so left the stat out at owners request.
they did no investigation as to why the head went in the first place or took any other measures to stop it happening again!
going to drop it off tommorow at ian taylor's and exspect some big bills

another quick update, dropped it off at ian taylor's last night. hes 99.9 percent sure its the head, even more specifically, hes norowed it down to a crack in cylinder number 2, just around the back of the exhaust port, and he hasnt even taken the head off yet.. i take i he knows a thing or two lol...
now just to get to the bottom of why it went in the first place
