I bought my bongo a little over a week ago, when driving it home i experienced lots of vibration and pulling to the left very badly. The bongo has now been tracked to parallel, 4 new tyres and balanced i don't get any vibration until over 85. They are the same tyres back and front. When i first went to view the bongo the tyres were very good, however the guy i bought it from took off the good tyres and put different size tyres on the bongo. Not very nice thing to do but what goes around and all that. I think if and when i get or need new tyres i will go for an even higher rating than i now have fitted.

Ok interesting, what does tracked to parallel mean? Is that different to standard tracking?

Not sure but I think that is all 4 wheels tracked, not all garages have the equipment to track all 4 wheels. So what are the new tyres, budget or premium? Talking to tyre fitters the general opinion is you get what you pay for. As an example 18" Maxxis tyres are £297 for a set of 4, but cheapest branded tyres are £554 for Bridgestones. Is it really worth paying nearly double?

I'm not really sure about the parallel but all i know is its much better than it was before the parallel tracking. Apparently most places for wheel tracking don't have the specific measurements for the mazda bongo in their system. So they have parallel tracked my bongo which was suggested to me by the good folks on here. I am watching for any wear and if any serious wear starts to occur the tracking will be altered accordingly. My new tyres cost roughly £300. My Bongo is four wheel drive also. So parallael settings are good.

It means no toe in or out - just straight ahead.

As for tyres - those 4 patches of rubber are your only contact with planet earth, all drive goes through them, all braking goes through them and all sideways grip.

The question should be how much is your life worth?
