If it's got levers in the back it's got rear aircon + if you've got digital climate control the button for the rear is on the control panel + there is no way for the front fans to blow through the top vents + you yourself have said you have rear aircon pipes + the pics you've put up are the rear aircon pipes therefore you have a twin system

lol..well I was a bit in fear of appearing thick. I thought you meant there might be an AC button or something.

I'm just hoping the 'o' rings have perished and it's a simple fix for the leak. Might try to take some pics if I get chance for future use.

Should be ok, get whoever does the refill to do a vacuum test on it, any reputable ac guy should anyway to suck all the old stuff out.

Bah...well it seems it's not the 'o'rings then. They looked fine and with the UV lamp on we could see the same colour dye from above.

How easy is it to get to the rear unit? Although we're not planning a conversion anytime soon, I guess the easiest option is to blank them off.

What's my best option blanking wise?

They may look fine, but they will be the same age as your vehicle, worth replacing, checking the sealing faces & getting a vacuum test done?
blanking ain't a simple option, you could order the correct blanking plugs from mazda as shown in lushprojects top right here - http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... 1of02.html part no's can be got from the list on the left by clicking on the + symbol, but it may be better to print it out & take in to the dealer.
I removed my rear ac unit etc entirely & blanked off the pipes as detailed here - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 0&start=45

Replaced the 'O' rings today. Nice chap down the local Ford garage. We matched it as close as we could by eye and general agreement.

Going to try and get it re-gassed Saturday to see if it's made a difference. If not, then onto the next stage.

Why not get them to do a vacuum test before gassing? if it can't hold a vacuum, it's leaking?

Well sadly it's not the 'O' rings. Passed the vacuum test, or it said it did. Refill and a look round, nothing seemed to be blowing on any joints or dripping to the floor. Everything seemed hunkydory as they say.

Got home, cup of tea, went and had a check and guess what....

bah.

So, yer AC works OK then over all..?? You sure it isn't just water from the condenser?

I've had my hand in the box when the AC's on & it kind of gets like a cold glass off beer on the condenser... (You know what i mean!?)

It works superb when the gas stays in :D

I can see it seeping from where the two pipes going up into the bodywork. So I took the plunge and started to get my hands dirty on it.

Got the panel off and unplugged the plugs, now working out on how to be at a point to see these where the two pipes go to.

I'm going by missfixit70s pics as a guide so far from her thread linked above. The pic titled 'Aluminium AC pipes out' are the ones I have issue with, it's above the connections on the left hand side of the picture. I'm down to the fans and rear heater box which is my next 'how does that come out' project. At least I know how to get there now.

I'm pretty sure that the water won't be bright green from it Jaylee.

I just want to see a leak or find something loose then at least I can fix it hopefully. All I got to do is get there :)

#-o I keep forgetting about the green... I know the condensers next to the fan & the housing for the heater & condenser is pretty much the same box with chambers & flaps.. I found it fiddly when i got in there!

Good luck!

so have just finished tearing my way in... after losing one clip I used an ingenious method of string and blue-tak stuck to a clip whilst prisong off with a screwdriver to stop them springing into who knows where...if I can't get them back on using the same method I'm going to use cable ties to 'clamp' them in place.

Well I can't see anything obvious and I don't posess a UV lamp, even one of those purple home affairs may have done it but there we go. Hopefully I won't get charged 'again' if I take it down to see where the leak is coming from.

Then it's a decision on new matrix (read-2nd hand) or off to the plumpers/B&Q just to blank them off. If Mazda garage open might give them a buzz whilst at it.

Whilst all this was going on I got rid of a load of fluff that was pretty well welded to the fins in places. Now as there was also quite a bit missing I am hoping that somebody is'nt about to reply saying...'looks like that was a filter pad' because it's now living in the vacuum cleaner , but if anyone wants to tell me the fins should be clear then that's one less nightmare.

*edit* spelling typo

Well it's the evaporator that's gone..phoned local Mazda dealer and after some work we managed to find if we were able to get the blanking bolts that Kirsty pointed out in the lushprojects diagram from her thread.

Sadly they're not availabe.

Time to get on the blower Monday...anybody got a ball park figure for a 2nd hand evaporator?

Well that should be the end of that little saga... [-o<

Had a 2nd hand unit fitted, coolant refilled and a regas. Was told £150 all in + Vat but someone must have got wires crossed as it ended up at about a £250 bill. Got about £20 off in the end so not too bad.

Fingers crossed that that's that.

Only downside was folding rear seats back up I noticed the wheelchair brake had leaned against it into the cloth and put a nice hole through it

Still, nice and cold now.

Thanks for all the input and to those who PM'ed.
