Just above the plastic scoop going into either side of the bottom of the rad.

I checked with my mechanic about these connections, he did indeed have to tighten up the connectors also, but he said this is normal so that you can angle the connector in the right direction before tightening.

Maybe this little nugget needs adding to the radiator fitting fact sheet done by harry as many 'amateurs' might miss this?

Email [email protected] with it & then it can get added in, don't count on him reading every post on here to update the factsheets info.

Used Mazda replacement stat. New mazdaparts water pump /timing belt with tensioner, change oils filters . Previously changed some dodgy pipes for silicon ( no probs, but should have gone for standard rubber ones because the clips bother me ) Temp and water level sensors fitted
All preventative stuff .

I have often wondered Why Mazda and others Doctored the Temp gauge when they only showed 12 noon ie (half full position).in the original state.
Just seems a bit strange..

Because the temp gauge moving scared people, so it was dumbed down so it didn't move once it got up to temp during "normal" operating range.

I used a company called Brighton radiators (I think they are part of a nationwide group) on 01273 611102 & got my rad for £147.00 + vat & it was spot on. No connections that need blocking off with a bit of hose, 2 clips & a bolt (another potential water leak ) & oil cooler connections that were tight & leak free. Did just what it said on the tin. Bleed it out with a vacuum bleeder, job done & forgotten. Easy.

The trouble comes when someone who hasn't fitted a Mason (or similar), takes your word for that and worries why their's sits for ever @ 11 o'clock and then doesn't worry when it goes past 12 o'clock.
