I guess I should take a bleeding factsheet (not being derogatory!) out with me in case I need to do it roadside at any point...

You won't be surprised to hear I keep that one up there too (ever since dreamwarrior had his bit of bovver). Of course, it was no effing use, as my AFT got stuck in the DOWN position and I couldn't access it
PS - good thing I didn't get a coolant leak away from home while AFT was u/s

Re: URGENT!!
Ady - there is def a pipe by the radiator cap that it unblocked and the rad cap is sprung to allow pressure relief.
Paul from LPG just popped by to pick up the keys and will give it a good going over this morning. I'm popping over to grab my stuff out of the Bongo at lunch and hopefully he'll have drawn some conclusions by then. I'll feed back the news when I have it.....

Re: URGENT!!
That vent pipe needs blocking up then asap, it shouldn't vent out of the rad cap, some non standard rads have the vent pipe, but the proper mazda ones don't, any venting should take place at the header. Hopefully that's all it is

Re: URGENT!!
In my mind the fact that it can vent from there isnt the problem, but if we keep the same rad then I'll make sure that it is blocked off in future. I am more bothered about why it vented as this would be down to two things:
1. Build up of pressure = bad!
2. Cap letting go too early, thankfully after pressure testing it looks like this is the case at the moment.
Paul is going to swap the cap and also change a rad hose while he's at it as it looks a bit suspect compared to the others and it seems to be a sensible time to do it while the coolant is being changed/bled anyway.
If then after testing the rad shows any signs of having problems then I'll get it swapped, if this needs doing then so be it.
Plus points from this are that it didn't overheat and isn't building up too much pressure, anything else I can cope with!
