Spoke to Flipflop just as they stopped it, seems the "mechanic" was too scared to disconnect the fuel line

I'm gonna take it to adrians on monday morning , the oil level looked fine when I checked so I dont think it was using the oil

as it was running for well over an hour

don't think i'll start it up till then though

I wouldn't mind but I dialled the number wrong first time & had some bloke answer, obviously didn't know what I was talking about when I asked for Flip Flop

While messing about today I did realise how diff it is to get the drivers seat up and out of the way with a mid conversion,
does the seat lift out rather than lean backwards?

Unfortunately not, but I think its only 4 or 5 bolts to get it out. if you slide it forward on its adjustment once it's past the steering wheel you should be able to get it up a bit further out of the way & carry an aproppriatly sized prop to hold it up.
One of the jobs on my roundtuit list is to make some bonnet style props that are clipped to the seat base & hinged at one end, that you just unclip & prop the seat up.

Seem to remember reading a post on here where someone shoved their foot halfway up the exhaust to stop the engine when a similar thing happened. I don't think I'd know how to go about disconnecting the fuel line, so would probably attempt this method in an emergency if the same thing happened to me. I notice no-one's mentioned it here though. Is it not a good idea (or just too damned difficult to do)?

We have found that best way to stop the engine (If solenoid related) is to slacken the fuel filter,or the filter drain plug.

(Environmental issues to be observed)

Not saying this is the case with yours but in my understanding (which could be wrong as I am new to diesels) but the oil level could rise if fuel or even water was getting into the sump and give you a false reading and possibly get were it shoudn't causing the running on problem.

I've not heard of this happening on a bongo, it's usually the stop solenoid jamming open.
