I do like the van , but becomes difficult to love when its having all these problems and everytime we plan to go away it
ends up in the garage!! More than anything though its the money

This is the reply I've had about what was done to our old bongo
"the non-stopping issue, didnt come back after we changed the solenoid for the non mazda version, which uses a hex shape plunger rather than the round type, which imo works better as theres less surface contact. It was sorted by replacing the fuel pump (with hex cut off valve fitted ) and turbo, it could have been either part, but we just replaced both and had the others rebuilt"
Looks like it got sorted in the end... oh, maybe I should have kept it. We loved the colour and the conversion in it

Chin up, that doesn't mean yours has the same probs. My old one really did have issues with slight inclines and the MPG was terrible. So far you've only mentioned smoke and oil smells, maybe not the same problem.
It's just a guide of what happened to our old one, yours may be a different problem all together. Others on here may have ideas on the price of those kind of things, if it is that, but keep going and keep your chin up, you'll love it when you get this glitch dealt with
*crossing fingers*

See if your glow plug rail is giving 12v when you turn the key to start it. if it dosen't try putting a jump lead clamp on the grow plug rail and the other end on the postive battery terminal. Does that start better.
