Ain't got an overdrive but I think I know what you're on about - the torque converter doesn't LOCKUP until the 'box oil/coolant temp is at a certain temp.
First time I have had to take issue Dandy

but nfn is correct, 4th gear is O/D on these units 3rd is 1:1. When cold both 4th & lock up are inhibited with 4th being the 1st one to be de-inhibited.
