I was having nightmares about new fuel senders and new headlights and in the end i did it all for nowt!!!!!

I've had the same experience, but each job has been successful, cheap, rewarding, and lasting. You don't just repair a Bongo, you invest in it. Love mine to bits. 8)

Mine was the same, cleaned the lenses and fitted 100% brighter bulbs from Halfords £25.00 ish 2 for 1, they are great now, do most of my driving on unlit roads and they work a treat.
