I could not understand why it wasn't working, i checked all the hoses like everyone said ,rev up and wait rev up and wait did the lot, it just seemed strange that it didn't work, it was obviously my fault, so i went through all that i had done recently and went over the connections and then found it wasn't in the clip what a plonker such a simple thing to miss.
I must admit the joy and relief knowing i don't have to drop the coolant (well not yet anyway).

I knew it wasn't anything serious Dave... There were no other suspicious circumstances surrounding the low heater output. My only concern was the rather rapid movement of the temp gauge from a stone cold start compared to my bongo. I don't think a stat change would do any harm, in fact, i should probably change my 15 year old stat whilst i'm at it!

So to summarise... basically moving the "heat" slider made no difference to actual heat output as it wasn't connected properly?

Would have felt a bigger plonker if you did the unnecessary work and then found the problem...........

Well done that man, never overlook the basic.
It's so easy to expect the worse with our cooling system and the horror stories that some have encountered especially when it is your baby.

I would think the control operates the vent for both front and rear to let heat from the engine through to the air vents and then its controlled by the front or rear slider controls, (i think ).

Dave, your heater control plasma pimping was to blame...





Did you pull the heater control right out when fitting it??

I conclude my deduction;
The temperature flap wire is the shortest control wire of the three, & actually gives very little room for slack.. (I'd say it just covers the distance to the clip.) This maybe how it came loose..!?

I disconnected all three from the flap points in order to pull mine out & give some space!

The cold air by default (At least on the rear heater.) runs past the matrix & directed through the vents because the flap covers the heat source.. (matrix) Only when set to hot, the flap moves away from the matrix causing i believe a slight bottleneck of the airflow & allowing it to heat...

Front & rear heaters COMPLETELY separate, only connecting factor is the coolant that heats the matrix & any electrcal connections, theres is no airflow between front & rear systems.
Not trying to be a scaremonger (wasn't before, thermostat conclusion was the next logical step having been told that all heater connections/controls had been checked), but if it's still only getting warm at the rear, you got another issue, hopefully just an identical issue with the rear controls.

Yep, but the rear heater is always on a constant recirculation....

What does it push out when the AC is on, you may have a stuck flap!?? Been there, mine was stuck on hot!

I assumed the heater wasn't working in the rear when i switched the rear fan switch on, and it only blew cold air, since then i looked at the controls in the back and the heater slider was on the cold setting
Like i said earlier been a bit of a plonker all seems to be working now.
