Bongo Fury

Hi there,

I bought from JAL and have a V6 LPG convert and love it, especially the savings at the pump.

We did 540 Km's on friday back down from Scotland, sat on the motorway at 3000 rpm (70/74 mph) and cost +/- £60 for the lpg.
Awesome return on a fully laden camper with passengers (myself and daughter Millie).

Anyhow to the main question - the aerial. I bought a really nice double din 7in unit to fit the gapping hole. I also got an internal aerial from ebay - waste of time - the signal cannot propagate correctly (rubbish signal strength) to allow the radio's RDS to function and retune when the signal quality drops off Radio 2.

I am investigating an external radio aerial and sniffing round ebay for a magnetic digital tv aerial/digibox.

Once I have sourced, tested and confirmed suitability I'll post piccies and how I got on.

I've found a place in Coventry that'll do it for £1250, to fit a Romano system. I know JAL do them, and no doubt they are to a very good spec. However they've put their price up to £1850, and this place in Cov have done plenty of Bongos and specialise in imports. I've already spent many,many pounds on shiny new Wolfrace alloys/racing stripes/thule rack and back bag/Cobb BBQ etc, so can't really stretch the extra £600.

By the way, if you have a go at fitting your internal aerial any time soon, let me know how you get on. I could always do with any good tips.

You spurred me into action the weekend and I fitted the amplified windscreen aerial! Cheers
Not that difficult in the end. The earth wire was quite short so I added some wire to this so I could connect it to the earth wire on the ISO connector for the stereo. I connected the live to the blue wire on the stereo which is for powered amplifiers or aerials. The aerial now only comes on when I turn the stereo on. Performance has been great ... even get traffic announcements! Just got radio 1 before and kept dropping out.

I have been seriously thinking of an LPG conversion since returning from holiday with these price hikes of late !
The figures quoted on this post speak for themselves really !!

Nice one guys- I'll give it a go over the next couple of days. Good tip by using the sun visor by the way-cheers.
However if it doesn't work i'll be interested in what you discover bongodonkey...
