That's probably cheaper than the add-on proximity sensors...and certainly a worthwhile fit along the sides...what sort of current consumption if armed all night, I wonder??

That's the answer with a Bongo if you want to sleep with an alarm on...get an alarm with a selectable cut off for interior sensors via the remote , thus leaving perimeter only...it won't stop gas attacks, but will set the alarm off if the door circuits are broken.
I have a good alarm, but it seems the remotes are hard to get, and one's broken...so look out for a new model....that way it's likely to be around for a few years. Also, look for an alarm with a user pin-code to stop the alarm if you find the remote batteries have failed.
There is a seller on e-bay that sells the type of Thatcham alarm that is well known, and they have a customer support number if you fit them yourself...but beware...they take a long time to fit!

Is ther any point in buying a thatcahm approved alarm and fitting yourself? as unless your used to the type of alarm your install wont be up to spec, it wont get you any reduction in insurance as its not fitted to standard!
Curious your saying that they have a helpline for fitting them when Thatcham (ex VSIB) reg'd companies guard their install data closely, in that if joe bloggs tells you how to fit an alarm, he also tells the next guy and the next, so you end up with however many people knowing how you've installed your system! its why good fitters modify the installs from the guidelines as it increases security further

Helen pm me what system you have, there are lots of contacts amongst fitters for getting hold of replacement fobs etc or at least putting the word out that its wanted.

You can get the meters that go in the cab that detect certain gases that are used in such attacks, Tony i'll send details when i send over the other stuff
