For what it's worth...

Took her to a different garage today who tested her. The prognosis is terminal, head gasket again :(

Thats bad news :cry: don't scrap her tho if your not getting her fixed she's worth more in bits if you have the room to break her then thats the most cost effective option .

Perhaps the 1st garage should be made aware. I cannot understand why 'professional' garages feel no sense of obligation to find the root cuase of something like an overheating problem, in order to effect a lasting repair that justifies what they have charged for doing it. Or am I being dangerously old fashioned in my outlook, as usual. :roll:

No mike your bang on, any work carried out of that magnitude should come with warranty of 12 months, it seems that some garages just want your ££££££ and don't give a hoot about aftersales :roll:

The mechanics i use would view a job like this as a challenge, and want to get tho the root cause of the problem. I have put people on here onto them. Basically use mechanics, not fitters

I know it sounds a bit simple but, have you tried rad caps, both mine were shot and caused me no end of problems, overheating and spewing coolant out. Worth replacing for the cost.
