when you fitted them, did they come close to the metal bumper support? its not a very widely known fact that if they are in conatct or very close proximity to metal it affects their performance, its why manufacturers had to develop little plastic sleeves for them for use in cars like shoguns etc wher the bumper is metal. That was when they were in their early stages tho and thought that was ironed out by now? but as stuc says, check they're not pointing down, its quite a common mistake and most kits come supplied with angled spacers to compensate

Thanks Julian. I don't think they are near to metal but that's all good advice and i'll check it out.

Just to round this one off and thank++ everyone for their thoughts......I tried Stucs idea (of rotating the sensors) first as being the quickest for a lazy git like me and eff me sideways with a pencil (noooooo, don't  ) it did the trick. A little experimentation, with no rhyme, reason of litle black dot to show which way was up, and the sensors stopped going off when there was nothing behind the Bongo. I think it may have been the towball / rear steps proximity thing as suggested by Helen that was causing the problem. Anyway, all works perfectly now, plus I have extra tips from Geoff etc. about reversing sensors and that I didn't know before :-)
