Couldn't get comfy with ours, so..

removed middle seats.
1st - piece of 3/4" MDF covers the (split) rear seats when laid flat, butts up to tailgate.
2nd - piece of MDF with fold out 'leg support panels ' butts up to and just over the front edge of the rear seats to make lower half of bed.
3rd - Custom-made to measure memory foam 3" mattress (£85)

Gives a perfectly flat full - width bed, 5'8" long, leaves approx 18" gap at the foot for getting in/out, and dog...

Whole thing folds down to about 8" thick, stored 'vertically' against the backs of the front seats, held there by bungee ropes running from the now-empty runner channels 'up and over' to front headrests. V secure, not going to shift in transit.


Prob more comfortable than our bed at home

Futon Company bed in a bag, two side by side and remove the headrests and fill holes with the bags to even out the surface - we also raise the rear seat back a little.

foam 35h grade (blue) top with a memroy foam topper glued toghter using carpet spary gule .

when on the move it just sit on the back roll of seats.

Or drink a few JD's before bed time

We have the middle seats reversed and use a airbed, with a duvet on top then sleeping bags and that's pretty comfy.

Hi - we have an unconverted 8 seater and we have tried to sleep on the two rows of back seats flat, but it was not so comfortable and we have the kids in the roof (accessed from the rear using a 'bed board' arrangement so were in constant danger of a foot in the head if they decided to come down in the night. We decided to dedicate an afternoon on the drive to exploring all possibiliites with seats up, seats down, front or back or both - to see how much sleeping / floor space we had (much to the amusement of the neighbours) and settled on laying the front seats (minus head rests) flat and the middle seats raised one notch. We could then send the kids to bed and sit in comfort and it wasn't too much aggro to sort out the bed for ourselves later. It all worked swimmingly well until I shifted in the night and used the middle of the steering wheel to push myself up a bit - woke most of the site (but most people were cursing 'the car alarm that went off at 3am'

trial and error and a thermarest was our answer.
