Sorry, but on journeys that short even a fill to fill calculation is subject to massive potential error as just a fraction of a litre difference in refill (very easy with the Bongo) can make several MPG difference.

I wouldn't rely on any MPG calculation that didn't result from several full to empty and refill again cycles.

I'm sure most of our calculations are off anyway as we use mileage from the odo which being based off the speedo will tell you that you've gone further than you have

The speedo calibration should be independent of the odometer reading. Either way, it's all relative as any errors will remain consistant on any individual vehicle. There are so many variables that will affect fuel consumption: use of air con, extra weight (fuel, passengers, luggage, etc), time spent idling in traffic, travelling into a headwind, tyre pressures, condition of engine, overtaking, driving style, etc. I do exactly the same journey 5 days a week & the averge consumption will be different on every day. If I was that worried about it, I'd buy a Honda Insight with combined MPG of 83.1 .

Wasn't thinking when I posted the reply forgot the Bongo wasn't turboed................ now there's a thought not a turbo but a super charger on a bongo could be fun

I agree, that sounds really interesting, but ithink if i mentioned that sort of expense to S.W.M.B.O. i would be walking funny for a few days
