My bad is just another horrible Americanism which seems to be creeping into the English language. Why we would want to adopt words from a nation that can't speak or spell proper English is beyond me

Not if it's incompatible it isn't, it could be a lot, lot worse.

Mixing incompatible antifreezes can cause huge problems.
