Yes it will start without the centre console trays etc, if you have disconnected the gear linkage you need to make sure it's in Park. Pretty sure it won't start otherwise, not sure though as I've never tried it.

Some crack an injector pipe - I don't know if this helps it to bleed faster or not, but I'd say just persevere...

Hi,I was looking at a pic of your striped engine,looks like your vehicle does have a hand primer(as most have),these primers are also used to drain and clear the filter of sediment and water,when drain plug is removed.
