It's a flip front player. The cd is still on and the volume
Is up. Don't think it has any security features.

The speakers are all wired separately so the only common aspect is the radio, sounds like the audio section of the radio is tripping out, are you running at a high sound level ? What causes it to come back, a power off/on, time or what?

Hi again. I didn't run it at high sound levels, it was late last night when i was playing about,
and didn't want to scare the neighbours. The sound hasn't come back on at all. I turned it off
and on, and still nothing. The player looks like it's working as normal. When it first went off, I had
it on with 4 speakers going for about a minute before it just stopped. Prior to this I had been
running the new front speakers in conjunction with the old ones, and that was fine. It was only
the rear woofers that seem to have done it.

I currently have one rear speaker removed because I am relocating it. Is there ny danger of overloading the amplifier stage of the Radio or is it protected aginst this? It is a reasonably modern Sony radio IIRR.

I would suggest checking both fuses then as starters;
Hover your mouse over the two fuses (10 Amp and 15 Amp) for pictures of locations;

Hi All,

Not had chance to have another play. The cd player powers on, and looks like
it's operating normally. i am going to pull it out tonight and have a look.
Thinking about it the wires were short to the rear speakers, and I had to give
them a tug or two. Perhaps this pulled a conncetion on the radio.

Thank you wonderful bonog people for your help so far. We will have sound
soon!!!

Hooray all sorted. Took stereo out and couldn't find
Anything wrong. Removed rear speakers and bingo
Front ones came back on. So pulled off the rear ones,
Extended the wires and plugged them in again. Working
Fine. Mounted them up, and screwed them in and all was
Good. Happy now. I can only guess the wires had either
Come off as the connectors were a bit loose, or a wire
Was touching something else. Now to bring the noise.
Thanks to all for your suggestions
