There's a mobile mechanic (called Simon i think) around the Midlands area. He might look at it for a fee if someone can post his contact details, though i don't think he'd want to be held liable for missing something. But at least he'd be familiar with the type.

Edit: a quick search on BF revealed this:

http://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/view ... le#p675215

and from that, I found this:

Yep , it doesn't matter if the dealer is JAL or your best PAL, get it checked out by an experienced person. Your large investment can end up worth buttons in a very short time if you get it wrong.

People have known to be STUNG by these old vehicles.

Anyway ,

Good Luck.

But....In this case at least.......Something very interesting looks likely to come out of it so no need to be looking backward. And i wonder if any but the most expert would have been able to spot the extent of hidden repair work. I wonder also who is riding around thinking they have a sound one when in fact they don't. It'll be interesting to read the history report on The Wasp when it comes through.

Hopefully they WON'T go away as they are two of the members who still post on here rather than migrating to facebook... =D>

To get back on topic...I would rather trust JAL than the AA or RAC.....because they don't really know Bongos like we do....

JAL is well respected on this forum and I doubt that he would sell a duff one as he has a reputation to protect... =D>

Good luck with your purchase Laura and remember that there is always loads of useless advice in here...( sorry guys I meant usefull advice )....

Cheers Alan. I've been unfaithful on farcebook lately but my phone blew up last weekend and I've not installed it on the new one and don't think i will. BF better reflects the peace and quiet I like. Great shame farcebook addiction dominates - i can see why it does but this at BF is our exclusive community.
