Yes I know exactly what you mean now we've lost the plentiful free charging and parking locally the advantages have gone.

Even so charging at HDC points or at home works out at about 7p/mile or 20+ miles per litre which = about 90mpg. 3x the best I achieved with the Bongo. But as you say the comfortable drive and the versatility make up for a lot. I have thought about getting another one if only I could find a good late diesel flattop - don't need or want the Freetop.
We now have a 21st C Bongo anyway - a Rimor Horus 45 on a Ducato 2.2/140bhp with the ZF 9 speed Auto.

Cruised back from Helston to Cambs in one go a couple of weeks ago. On cruise control between 65 and 70mph most of the way - 350miles on 44 litres. You won't get that from a Bongo.
With the back beds out (a 5 min job - quicker than taking the seats out of a Bongo)) it is nearly as spacious as a Bongo and you still have kitchen, dinette and wc/shower room to use.

PS Bongo is still in one piece and really does need to go.

It's current job is blocking a hole in a security fence - an embarrassing end for a Bongo.
