Also, I ordered a belt set from Auto Japanese Spares.

It arrived today but the vbelts are notched. The old ones weren't. Does that matter?

The ones that came are:

Gates FleetRunner V-Belt - AVX13x1100HD 8701-16474 (2 of these)

Gates V-Belt 6470MC AVX13 x 1000 La

Does that all sound ok?

The old ones were Bando SF-III A-39
And Bando WAF-III V13W1090La (2 of these)

Have used there a few times great service and hard to beat on price

PS the belts are the ribbed type as in Toblerone .

If you decide to fit a genuine rectifier kit these are still available from Mazda Japan.

That looked a good deal but as it is out of stock, not a great deal I could do!

Thanks regarding the belts, the new ones are like a toblerone but the existing ones were not.

I've ordered an alternator now, so got that coming tomorrow. Belts are ready, hoping to have it back up and running by the weekend.

Bought a 90A refurbished ones in the end.

£89.99 delivered and they refund £5 if you send the old one back (they sort the postage)

New set of gates belts for the alternator and the Aircon.

And a new battery.

An hour to fit and most of that was sorting the seized adjuster on the Aircon. It would tighten but not loosen as the thread was rush on the end. Ended up taking the whole adjuster part off and cleaning the thread up in the garage, then replacing.

Otherwise all was easy.

Slacken adjusters off and the belts go on with a bit of effort, then tighten up. Approx 15 mm of movement on the belt.

Alternator now charging the battery properly and I think the Aircon is working again! I think the old belt was so loose that it wouldn't work before!

Had fair few new parts this year, all the above plus it had a new wishbone, droplinks and brakes a few months ago.

CJF Rotating Auto Electrics Ltd

They say that they replace the following...

Regulator
· Rectifier
· Slip ring
· All bearings
· Brush sets
· Protective plastic cover
· Brush boxes

It certainly feels to have new bearings as it was very smooth. It looks like new to be honest.

I bought from their eBay shop so didn't know that much about them at the time but have had very professional service from them and it looks to be top quality.
