Yes, that was ours - looking pretty grubby with all the mileage it has done lately (did another couple of hundred miles today). At least the underside is protected from all that crud now...

Waxoling and rustproofing

i have just been recommended a company at Bradford for rustproofing and Waxoiling. essentially they look after classics and Im sure a BONGO is one! their website which gives detailed price breakdowns for the work is http://www.sprocketsandspanners.co.uk. I Think its worth a look if only to get ideas on price and good practices.
I say, Do You Bongo?....... RATHER!

Looks like they know what they are doing although I don't think the pedants on this site will be visiting them ("We don’t claim to be the best, but always do our damnedest to do the job writeat least only to correct their English!

Their prices seem dramatically lower than Chassis Clean when you first look ("from 195 plus VAT"), but I assume that a Bongo is a big car ("235 plus VAT"). Chassis Clean cost 330 plus VAT, and includes some things that S&S have as extra - proper cleaning and drying overnight. In fact, I finally figured why Mikeonb4c said my van looked "very smart" - they had cleaned it outside as well as underneath. I never actually saw it as clean as he did, because it was dark when I got there and I picked up more road crud on the way home (although not as much as it had started with).

Also not clear whether they do as much injecting into sections but they might. If I wanted this done and I was in Yorkshire, I might talk to S&S about prices and work and go there. From the other side of Lancashire, I don't think it would be worth the extra distance.

Well I just picked up Mango Bongo this morning (jeesh but I've missed her) and she was on the ramps for me to inspect underneath. Couldnt believe what a lovely job they had done. I also used the opportunity to ask them to put my replacmenet steel wheels on and to check and report on wear on disc pads while the wheels were off. I also asked if the could put a bit of rust proofing paint on on or two places under the bonnet where paint had flaked (underneath the air intake box - worth checking & quick to do). Everything comes off (mud flaps, sump guard etc.) when they work and the car gets a thorough drying. My feeling was 100% - interested to see if you share this feeling Chris P - that they do the job how it should be done. I am more than happy to pay for it in that case. What better investment can you make in the old girl. I am absolutely delighted with the job they have done for me. Although I didnt need to ask, as I live nearby, I believe they even have a car you can use while they have yours in.

Jack, who does the work, is one of the 'old school'. Unless I've got it completely wrong, when he does a job he does it properly and with care.

I've taken some pics of the underneath and will post them when I get a chance.

From the above you can guess I recommend them :lol:

I hope they removed and treated the rusty areas which were quite noticable on your foglamp pics. If not then all they'll have done is seal the corrosion in to appear at the other side in a few years :shock:

Hiya Simon. Hope this isn't too late. See my post in Bongo Chat 8/1/07 "waxoyling and servicing in Poole area". I'm completely comfortabe with the people that did my Freda and don't think I got half a job, even though it was half the price of the other quoets shown here. Certainly worth a 70-mile round trip to save £200 on what Mikeonb4c and ChrisP paid.

I dd discuss this with them and I think I have to assume they did dandy. Hard to be sure of course cos its all done when you get back. However they assure me they treat every bit of rust with anti-rust paint (and incidentally the picture gives a misleading impression - Mango is not at all rusty). Also, everyone has advised that waxoil (which they put on before the underseal payer) inhibits rusting. So I would hope the job is a good un. I imagine, if anything remains active, it will expand and cause raising of the underseal so will announce itself some time before breaking through to the outside.

At the end of the day, its all down to making a decision.

Good stuff - it's important to feel you've had a good job done.
The guys who waxoiled mine spent ages on it, even took off the rear lights, door trims and side door to get the stuff into the insides and box sections. I took off the rear side panel last weekend to fit a speaker and found everything caked inside and around the seams - happy chappy - and all for £100........... ( gave them the waxoil)
