Thermostat

You can't put the thermostat in the wrong way round (i.e. upside down) but there is a circular recess in the top half of the housing where the thermostat should sit. The circular rubber seal should be in the lower housing with the thermostat sitting in it. Well this is how mine is now.

I am just going on a 120 mile round trip to Clun to see the Green Man expel winter by throwing the frost fairy into the river  , its something the wife wants to see. I hope we don;t overheat on the way but you cotta go for it and I'm sure the Bongo will perform admirably.

Will let you know this evening.

Thermostat working.

All went well on a 120 mile round trip from Stafford to Clun and return. This was a mix of A roads, B roads and Motorway/Dual carriageways. We went up and over several hills, some short sharp climbs and other long climbs, the temp guage stayed at 11:30 all the way and whenever we stopped I checked the top and bottom hoses, the top hose was always hot, the bottom hose always warm and sometimes hot, so the coolant was circulating as it should.

Hope this helps anyone who may have overheated.

Now this is very interesting, This indicates that the radiator and stat do play a major role in the cooling system
