if you live near manchester try afflicks palace loads of interesting stuff there.

Re: Christmas is coming!!
I'm only guessing, but would that be a knitted uniform then??Wigan_Pixie wrote:I've changed my mind. Uniforms is a great theme. I've started making mine and I'm getting very excited!

Re: Christmas is coming!!
Blimey I've not been to afflecks palace for years, I used to buy all my clothes from there.
Yes, there will be a slight knitted element to my costume, along with some very bad sewing and lots of glue. I had thought about wearing my Voyager 7 of 9 uniform
but thought that wouldn't be as much fun - plus I'd look like a right prat!
I can't believe how excited I'm getting. Thomas is NOT pleased that he's not coming, so I have to make a costume for him to wear at his dads.

Last time I went to Afflecks palace musta been about 15 years ago

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
Re: Christmas is coming!!
That's about how long ago it was for me. I don't have to go far now for some decent clothes, now that we have the Coven in Wigan. It also sells scrummy grub too. I do spend an awful lot of money whenever I go in, so it has to be an occasional treat.
Re: Christmas is coming!!
Well i have to betray my roots here and say that Manchester is much better than Leeds or Bradford - definitely my city of choice - we spent an entire day in afflicks once (us country bumpkins dont get near a shop often) nearly but not quite bought myself a hippy coat, last time we went there was lots of PVC stuff which was less tempting for me but i can definitely visualise some of you boys in it.

Re: Christmas is coming!!
I'm not sure I would wear PVC now, it would show too many bumps and lumps, although when I was very young (and into punk) I had a pair of see-through plastic jeans
that were pretty cool - with coloured tights underneath, I hasten to add. I also used to shop at Quiggins in Liverpool, which was like Afflecks Palace but cheaper and it had a really good veggie cafe. Not sure if that's still there now, I may have to go and have a look. I get most of my clothes from festivals or charity shops now or, if I've got a lot of money to spend, I go to Hebden Bridge. I really wish I had the sewing skills to make my own. I don't actually like shopping for clothes anymore, everywhere seems to have the same stuff.
I envy you Karena, I wish I was a country bumpkin.

I went to Afflecks a few weeks ago and it had changed loads. It still sells loads of alternative stuff but its more Goth/Emo now.
Since it has been saved from being closed down alot of new shops have moved in, the old (and the best) ones left when it was being closed down.
I wonder what uniform we could wear?

Re: Christmas is coming!!
I'll have to make the time to get up there and check it out... Mind you, a little thing called E-BAY didn't exist when i used to peruse the goodies on show at church street's finest ensemble experts! E-BAY is just TOO covenient for a busy working mum such as myself.mellyarnold wrote:I went to Afflecks a few weeks ago and it had changed loads. good thing they dont know how much time i spend on here and are too much up their own backsides to know about u-tube - guaranteed on a friday afternoon everyone is on there.
