Well i got it all back together, which was nice....not even any 'weeee' bolts left.
But alas, whilst it sounds fine, it wont start.
I guess it's worth mentioning i changed the fuel filter too, I thought that was self priming?

So any ideas on the none starting issue? I lined up the timing marks on both pulley wheels, got the belt tensioned correctly.

When it turns over it sounds fine no clanking or grinding, but I got a gut feeling it's a timing issue, What am I missing? (Forgetting)

Usually ends up being a timing issue, but make sure glow plugs are getting voltage, fuel hut off solenoid is open, etc. I usually fill the fuel filter with fuel or injector cleaner before screwing it back on. Check you put the o ring on the bottom & not the top & that it is on tight with no leaks.

Well finally got the old girl running again well pleased.

All seems fine, but yesterday I heard a noise like a 2ltr lemonade bottle being rapidly opened and the power dropped right off.
I'm in no doubt its the turbo, but I'm not sure what to check. Does anyone know what hoses are worth checking?

I've started this journey so I'm not gonna quit now...

What do the tiny pipes that come of the metal elbow do? the platic joints on mine have broken and i'm not sure what their called for ordering purposes.

the little pipe controls/suplies the fuel pump with a vacuum,this is needed to give more fuel to the engine when running/revving.

there are also 2 little vac pipes that run from the head/drivers side to the pump cold start actuator.check these2 as they are known to go brittle and fail.

Yeah the little ones that go by the rocker cover? they are broken on mine, where do I get new ones and what are they called?

these are just standard vacuum pipe.i got spares from the scrapyard.mitzi padgero have them amongst others.if you get spares make sure they are airtight and dont suck FLAT when fitted.
also BE VERY CAREFULL WHEN REMOVING THE OLD PIPES FROM THE ELECTRIC SOLENOIDS AS THE ENDS OF THESE CAN BREAK OFF,and they are expensive.

make sure you dont cross the pipework over when fitting these.
the right solenoid controls the aircon/fast idle pickup.to the end feed of the actuator, when engine cold and the left one does the halfway off control for the fast idle,to the middle entry of the actuator,

FIXED!!

I hope it lasts a bit longer this time it was the big hose, I must have forgotten to tighten the jubilee clip up.
