Simon mentioned needing needing to remove the springs and needing a spring compressor to fit them is this always the case ?
I'm debating with myself at the moment about getting some so just working out what might be needed, have the others who have fitted them done yourselves or had your garage fit them ?

I've fitted 2 sets of these, and I can't see how you get the units into the springs through the coils, even completely unweighted. I've used a set of compressors both times.

I think I have seen it on here where people have managed to squeeze them in - but I can't imagine it's easy!

Fitted mine through the coils. Not easy but straightforward with a blunt smooth bar to give a bit of leverage. WD 40 helps. First one took about 20 mins and the second one half that time. Definitely not necessary to remove the springs.

Might have expected both responses
I think I'll have to make a purchase and then see how it goes!

I tried but gave up trying to feed it thru the coils as I was worried about damaging the bags. You certainly can't feed it thru the hole in the bottom of the spring as the instructions suggest. These were the spring compressors I used: £17.99 from Screwfix which is a bargain I think: http://www.screwfix.com/p/coil-spring-c ... 2pcs/45986

Thanks Simon, that is a good price but just annoying given that they will only probably be used the once!

Do what I did & borrow them from someone else ;). Even if you ending up buying them, it's cheaper that having to order a new unit as it's been damaged during installation. Alternatively, sell them in the Small Ads section for £10 so someone else can get some use from them.

Just fitted airlift 1000. Not easy- my hands are still aching. If you detach shocker , also release brake pipe.

Probably best to use spring compressors and remove spring . If possible fix the bottom air pipe before final positioning as it is tricky to do thru the bottom hole.
At 15psi I am now standing at 740-745 mm to centre of wheelarch -- 730 before - so I am v near the ceiling in the garage !

I must have been lucky..............although arms were aching from jack up.........jack down........jack up again..........

I did use spring compressors and axle stands and that enabled me to feed the cylinders, pipes and caps in from the top, once I had dropped the rear arm a little. No other bits removed. Just made sure everything was nicely seated as I dropped everything back down again onto the wheels.

Must admit I am always nervous with compressed springs though...........even with the compressors on and all seated nicely
