Replacement hose clamps - which ones?

Going back to a post in 2010 courtesy of Haydn, it seems 3 different sizes were required:

12 to 20mm
20 to 32mm
32 t0 50mm

With a number of forum members successfully using ordinary Jubilee clips I wondered if I was going overboard looking for constant tension clips. Certainly at £3-£6 a clip (x34) I was losing interest!

It has been a challenge finding where to buy posh clips at sensible prices in retail quantities. I have found HLC-Clamping and would appreciate any comments/experiences. It's an appalling web site that hangs all over the place so I've popped links to individual pages below.

• Mikalor Constant pressure worm drive (aka Jubilee clip), available in the medium and large hose sizes
• Spring band clip. Manufacturer: Rotor Clip. Sizes don't go quite small enough for small hoses (going to recheck that). Large hose size is back over £3 though. Look a bit rough to me but quite close in style to Mazda originals.
• Mikalor Ezyclik-M+ spring band. Available to fit small and medium hoses. Seems the business and good for tight spaces. Cheap (relatively!) BUT looks like I'd need a special tool £23+VAT to tighten them.

I hope I am sorted for the medium and large hoses with the Mikalor "Jubilee" clip.
Paying £28 for a tool to do clips on the 4 small hoses grates a bit so I looked elsewhere. Mikalor W1 spring bands are readily available (e.g. on ebay here) but advertised for fuel lines, as are most small diameter spring clips. I imagine that the cooling system operates at a higher pressure so would they be ok for a coolant hose?

Brain aches, over thinking this if I hadn't read this forum I would have just slapped on Jubilee clips throughout, done up with my massive screwdriver normally used for opening paint tins. Or can I be forgiven for not wanting to gamble with the cooling system

I like the look of the first lot...I might be investing in some f those myself...With the standard Mazda clips, the only thing you must watch for is that they corrode, and those constant-pressure worm drives can be fitted without removing the hose...neat !

Look carefully and you will see a spring segment inside the clamp.....same as the NORMA CLAMPS BUT A THIRD OF THE PRICE

Anyone offer an updated opinion on the worm drive clips?
I see 20-32mm, 25-40mm and 40-60mm options available which match most of the coolant sizes but i'm unsure of how many I'd need of each

The external diameter of the main coolant hoses is 41 mm. For the rear heater hoses it is 22 mm.

Authentic Jubilee clips correctly torqued are fine from my experiences over the years, its the imported look a likes that are the problem.

You won’t find many makes of car that are fitted with Jubilee clamps during manufacturing, they almost all use some sort of constant pressure clamp and for good reason. Jub clamps cannot allow for the constant expansion and contraction of all the different materials involved.

I used HCL and they are good quality. If the site seems to hang try a different browser. Some sites don’t handle all. You don’t need special tools

They look fine and reasonable price....we used to stock and supply the NORMA clamps, they were imho the best but at £3 each it could cost nearly £100 to do the full set of hoses on a Bongo. I had a phone call from McLaren Racingone day and they bought my entire stock. Haven’t bothered with them since.

Yes they look the best and reasonable but that's only one size, how many of those and what other sizes did you use do you recall?

Wow, that's very unusual and against McLarens policies regarding spares, do you know where they intended to use the clips ?.
