Show Opening Times
The Air Show site opens from 9am till 6pm on both days with the flying programme commencing at approximately 1pm till 5pm, display times are also subject to weather conditions on the day.

Having a quick read early suggestions are that its best to get there early, and has also been suggested approaching from the Banks end of Southport,no idea if this is a good idea or not,I reckon it will be hit and miss if we actually will be together on the beach or not it may work it may not, whatever happens it should be two good days out!!

Dare I say it the only way in which we will be together on the beach is to convoy in from a point very local to it,any ideas??

Dabs :P (dont look towards me Im not the organiser) but if things do sound interesting with any ideas through the week leading up to weekend please post on here!

I think that if I go at all (which I may well and thanks Dabs for the heads-up) I'll most likely 'fly solo' as the logistics of trying to link up sound very tricky indeed, esp. as I have no local knowledge. If I bump into fellow Bongoists, that'll be great and obviously keep an eye out, but.....etc.

When I suggested meeting at Ainsdale beach what I meant was we could meet on the road leading to the beach entrance not driving onto the sand - we could possibly meet by Pontins as the road is quite wide and then we could go as a convoy down the coast road as the Birkdale beach entrance is the next roundabout heading towards Southport. :) Depending on what time we meet up -the earlier the better - the traffic on the coast road is usually moving quite freely until the last 1/4 mile when we have been to this event in the past - the biggest challenge is normally trying to find a parking space :( unless you are parking on the beach.

I agree this could work, short walk to the airshow. Has everyone bought advanced tickets? Believe car parks open at 8 o'clock that day. £5 per car in the main show car parks. Not sure how much at Birkdale.

Chaps/Chapesses - As its now Thursday, I thought I'd bump this up.

I'm keen on a meet early Sat morning to cruise in as a gang.

We may well head that way friday night & do a bit of discrete wild camping.

Any plans gang?

I think we'll be going (me, Will and his mate from next door) but I doubt we'll drag ourselves away from this house before 8.00am which would mean around 9.00am arrival if traffic is OK. Shall I look up Pontins postcode, put it in my SatNav and head for there on the basis that with luck I'll meet gathering Bongos, and without luck I should be able to park up somewhere not far from there/the airshow anyway?

I notice there appears to be a campsite very near the airport on Coast Rd but daresay they are fully booked!

If you are heading North Carl, Charnock Richards is past the junction you need.
J26, onto the M58 then onto the A5207 to Formby, onto Formby Bypass A565.

Are you guys staying on the beach or paying to go in. At £5 advance price I think we'll go in so the boys can see the model display close up plus check out the stands

For a local rendezvous, bearing in mind the threatened traffic chaos, can I suggest meeting at 9am  on Saturday on Tesco's carpark on the Formby bypass - then we can contemplate our options from there, particularly with someone who knows where we are supposed to be going   (that's not me, by the way)

Conventional wisdom suggests that 9am is too late and there is a better meeting point - stand by for a definite rendezvous point shortly............

Yes, I know your name isn't 'Shortly'

Early-birds try to be at the Sands public house, post code PR8 2QD for your satnav

It's on the coastal road just by the access road for Ainsdale beach. I suggest attempting to be there for 8am, if people can post on here their intent (or otherwise) to be there, we at least know if we're waiting for anyone.

See you there

Is it light at 8 o'clock these days :?
