In modern speech, the term Gentleman is usually democratised so as to include any man of good, courteous conduct. =D>

well that counts me out. :?

according to brainyquote.com traditionally a gentleman is

A man well born; one of good family; one above the condition of a yeoman.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One of gentle or refined manners; a well-bred man.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One who bears arms, but has no title.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The servant of a man of rank.

I,m sure at least one of those must apply you may tick them as you see fit -
i shall refrain from further comment.

rubbish Brian -
number one a yeoman no longer exists so you must be above the rank of something extinct.
number two applys to all of you.
number three i know the knees have been dodgy but you have arms
number four - you were working for a high ranking police comissioner
which means you are a true gent in every sense. :)
