The T109 looks very similar - maybe the same - as the product from Woollies. They've confirmed that it does lean to the left. I'm asking if they could send a sample.

look possibilities but whilst the wall chart says the images are full size I think I would want a sample to try first!

Actually these look similar especially the T109 to what Kirsty tried but maybe this company will be more cooperative ?
Same company I contacted
I tried a load more suppliers (including any links I found on here & other threads) looking at their online stock, no joy.
I contacted about half a dozen of the bongo converter type guys who fit aftermarket roofs asking about the seals they use, all but one replied & all said basically - " the seals we use for aftermarket roofs are not suitable for the original".
I contacted JAS to see about a price for a new one as they seem pretty good on most things price wise - £220 delivered in 7-10 days  bit steep as Allan had already checked with his supplier & they came in at £120ish +vat. So I tried my local Mazda dealers - Wey Valley Mazda, who I have tried to use before but were a bit useless TBH, seems that it was the shonky system that they have to use for the grey imports that was letting them down.
They could get it for £111.59 +vat, but could get no definitive answer on when it may be available, as it was showing no stock in europe, so it would have to come from Japan. I ordered it anyway a couple of weeks ago & it's here today, total price inc vat is £133.91. Not cheap (but a damn sight cheaper than some suppliers for the same thing [-X ), but I reckon if the seal doesn't fit properly you're going to get water ingress as well as the risk of air whistling through while driving, creating a draught & potential noise issue (was it Not So Old that had a noise issue due to the seal breaking down a couple of years ago?).
The seal seems to have u shaped cut outs where the corners are & profile is the same as the original (on the left here)

As long as it fits once the roof's been sprayed, I'll be happy :D

Excellent news Kirsty (and well done as your research is a great service to all Bongo owners), as I had been wondering about this only recently. We are all likely to need a replacement, sooner or later, so I hope they can still get one when my time comes. I'll be interested to hear how you get on fitting it. 8)

according to the home page at http://www.rubbertrim.co.uk/ , they can supply "small runs of rubber..min 30 meters" if this includes profiles then surely it wouldnt take many bongo's-worth to make up a bespoke trim?

Is this an opportunity for some kind of group buy? If this is one of those many things things that is going to inevitably need replacing on a bongo, is this the kind of thing that we need to be joining forces over?

Cheers

Andrew

The AFT is around 8.5 to 9 metres worth, so it wouldn't take too many bongos to go for it, I guess it depends on price & number of peeps interested, it's up to someone to take the bull by the horns & go for it I guess to see if a group buy is feasible?

I'd certainly be interested in a group buy, so long as the price can be better than the import price. My roof seal is still viable, but clearly won't be lasting for ever, and I do hope to keep the Bongo for a good while. I'd rather get one while I can, even if I have to store it (carefully!) for some time.

Nope, same options as all the suppliers I tried, same as the samples I got that IMO wouldn't work (see the pics earlier in the thread), also tried loads of converters that fit aftermarket roofs etc, got nowhere, they pretty much all said you'll have to get an original - I'm sure they'd have made a few quid out of me if they could  Good luck with it
