might take longer depending on if we havnt taken all the stock mazda carry. there seems to be a spate of the same hoses going at the same time.

Well I phoned our local dealership (barnstaple) and the guy didn't recognise the hose number from the link on this thread, so he came on here while I was on the phone with him and checked the pics and the schematic and found which hose I needed!! thats customer service I was very impressed, he said they would have it on friday, and at the grand cost of 7.49!!

good news there. i went into parts backroom and had a look at the microfish, exactly same as lushprojects and found it there with the man, think bout same price

Thats exactly right if its for a 2.5 diesel I have my new hose in front of me now I have not fitted it yet!! AVA had one last week too ask for Andy see if they still have it.

Well dang I blaaaast!

2010, or as Madge would say annus horribilis, has just been a catalogue of plumbing problems so far - and now I've also joined the pinhole club.

Examples:-

1.) January: Central heating boiler heat exchanger burst overnight, flooded the kitchen and cost megabucks for new boiler, updated plumbing, electrics, etc.

2.) Late February: Following knee replacement surgery, my own waterworks packed up. After eight weeks with a todger tube and Flip Flo drain valve (couldn't find either on lushprojects, BTW), more megabucks private surgery last week sorted it after a fashion - and I'm still not a soprano

3.) Came home from hospital Friday night, and as we got here, I noticed some water under our Bongo, offside behind the cab. Didn't think a lot about it, 'cos it had been raining. In rest and recovery mode over the w/e, I didn't go near it again until last night - when bugger I, the water was still there

Not very mobile, due to poorly healed left knee (unable to exercise properly during todger tube phase), not tp mention a certain sensitivity in the marital zone, I nonetheless managed to get down low enough to find a coolant pinhole weeping away in, I think, 61-212C, here http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... mgno=.html.

As it had been off the road since the pinhole formed (probably during a short run to the local B & Q, 10 days ago - with front and rear climate control running, to lubricate aircon seals), our LCA and TM-2 had not picked it up and the coolant header tank was bone dry. Judging by the small amount collected overnight into a jug I then put under the leak, I might now find when I get out there today that the leaking's stopped and the system's empty

To repeat: Dang I blaaaast!

A thought: Did the big freeze in Jan/Feb have a significant adverse effect on our elderly motors' hoses? My coolant/antifreeze was certainly OK but the temp changes imposed on the rubber would have been much greater than normal for the UK. Suspecting that might have been the cause, I guess that once I'm more mobile I'll do a Rescue Tape fix and system fill/bleed, and talk to Ian Taylor about an all-hoses replacement job - more megabucks!

As Dabs said, keep a close eye on your pipes and hoses, peeps.

Sorry to hear you aren't 100% Dave... If it's any consolation, i did squint in sympathy at the marital zone tenderness bit!

Bad news on the leak mate... Did you determine why the LCA didn't pick up on the empty header tank? This just goes to show that a visual inspection of the hoses is what's required...I only rely on my LCA to pick up an overnight coolant loss really, some are over complacent about not checking just because an LCA is fitted.

Hi Steve. Ta for the kind thoughts. LCA didn't pick up the problem because the leak did not drop the header tank level far enough to trip it, when the Bongo was last on the road. It's all "dripped away" while I was in hospital - ouch, a bit near the mark that!

Like you, LCA or no LCA I'm paranoid about visual checks of header tank, pipes and hoses - but hope I'm excused missing a pinhole right underneath, when preoccupied with what I hope you've just enjoyed watching

How would you see an under van hose leak like that anyway, with your motor's slinky ground clearance?

2.) It's not a pinhole leak where the coolant is dripping. Coolant is running down from a hose-end leak, where it connects up into the rear heater matrix.

Tried shifting/tightening the hose clip but that didn't do the trick. Coolant is still messily running out and it will need a full drain down now to be able to see exactly what the problem is, and whether or not it could be repaired with say just a new clip, Rescue Tape, or whatever. So, instead will order new hose and clips first, then drain off, fit new items, flush, refill, bleed, etc.

Not the best game with two new bionic knees and a pared down prostate!
