£1.32 was "hellishly expensive" diesel in 2015 on the Motorways.
Today for a motorway that would be an absolute bargain, and about normal
from a local petrol station, how times have changed.
I put a tenners worth in the other day along the M4 and it was £1.56 !

In 2015 your vehicle was returning over 40MPG that would make up for the Rip off price you paid for your fuel. Joining the M4 to put in a tenners worth of fuel at £1.56 per litre is strange.I can see you like a challenge well done.

I am sure it still is returning 40MPG if I drive in such a precise manner that it does i.e. 50/55mph, same route, headwind, load etc. Neither is anything strange or a challenge. I had a tad under 1/2 a tank and put a little extra in, in case we hit a traffic jam on the next road notorious for jams.
When I saw the F.O. price I decided to put the least I thought I could get away with.
What is certain though is petrol and diesel has rocketted to "hellish prices" everywhere in the U.K. since 2015.

Yes the price is rocketing , this is one thing you can blame BREXIT on.The public dont seem to bother too much about it nowadays, probably because they are getting 60/70 mpg with their cars and paying nothing or very little for road tax.

Just Achieved 34.5 average over 6 fuel stops from Ingleton North Yorkshire via Hawich, Holland to Dolomites in Italy & back.
Not an eco run though used kick down when ever I needed to, 65mph cruise it's not a flat run quite hilly. No additives or special treatment just standard Diesel ( 2.5 TD).

I'm averaging at 30mpg nowadays (2.5 Automatic, rear conversion), I use premium diesel, no particular care when driving (motorway speeds of 65-70mph).
The biggest saver for me was replacing the rear (middle) seats with plywood seat boxes - I was averaging 26mpg before I did that!
That was a nice surprise, they'd already cheered me up with the huge amounts of storage & the flat sleeping area....
