Yup they come from the Bongo Wiring Diagrams;
The link to the web site is here, click to enter:Image
I copied Steve the original scans to help on the cooling diagrams fact sheet he is preparing! The 1995 Manual is now visible but not yet complete - still linking the pages up (up to page 80), this makes a pleasant change from positioning the icons and links over each page #-o

To finish off the descriptions that only leaves;
9. Potentiometer, which the Wikipedia description is as good as any I can come up with.

After that the items are really the same or modules containing several of the items described so far. The only other oddity is the way they show the diesel Glow Plugs as a single module item 12., took me a few moments to work out what they meant, but really that is all a Glow Plug is a resistor designed to get so hot it Glows !

13. Is a switch with a Lamp, symbol -curly filament in a glass sphere. Normally built into the switch as on the dashboard.

Many thanks for the effort Geoff (and your patience) - descriptions at a level I can understand. =D> =D>
That should keep me quiet for a while :D .....................but not forever

No problem, like most things it associating all the different bits of info. together, with the variety of sources we now have (Service manual, Lush & electrical) its all there but not all in the same format which would be nice but just about impossible to achieve!

.....just about? (perhaps)
I'm afraid I am a born optimist, and as such, NOTHING is impossible.................but as you have probably surmised, I have had may dissapointments over the years. Conversely, there have been some very good times.
You can't have it all, but that's what I want - gimmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

3 out of 54 connected so far. Only 51 to go.

More questions:
1 - The diagrams show/suggest that the negative battery terminal (earth????) is connected to the car bodywork. Is this correct?
2 - what do the circles with numbers in 7, 16 mean?
3 - the symbol attached to the number 20 - Does this mean 'This signal comes From 20'?
4 - Similarly, the symbol attached to the number 21 - Does this mean 'This signal goes To 21'?

Yes the -ve of the battery has a heavy strap connecting it to the chassis.
Earths which are shown using a solid black dot have their own connection to chassis via there own physical mounting i.e. spark plugs and the like.
Earths with a number in the circle are connected to chassis via a connector, refer to the location page following the diagram i.e. diagram on page 22 locations on page 23 - see the HELP page :D also
all the Earth wiring is shown on page 12 and locations on 13 for WL-T and 14/15 for FE-E/J5-DE or see the Contents page at the start.

In the case of input signal 20 yes it comes from the sheets U-1, if you use the on-line Wiring Diagrams all the links are clickable to take you to the right page :D
If the Arrow points towards the circle then its an output signal to the sheets given.
Reffering to the Page numbering / Sheet lettering, the pages come in pairs given by the lettering i.e. U-1 even page number is the diagram and odd page number is the locations. The page numbers vary between the manuals.

could the heavy black arrow be a one direction circuit through a diode - the arrow usually means a diode in european wiring diagrams

Diodes are an Arrow with Bar

the ones Steve is referring to are merely diagrammatic links between different pages in the Wiring Manuals they don't exist in reality at all!

as g8dhe said earlier, quote:

I am currently producing a composite wiring diagram of anything connected to the ECU.
The ECU I am tracing is for a 2.5 diesel.
At first glance, the circuits of the manual transmission ECU appear to be slightly different but the majority of the circuits will be identical with the automatic version.

ECU - 2.5 diesel
There are 54 pins on the ECU connector and of these 4 are not used.
Of the remaining 50 pins, I have traced 23 circuits to date.

Progress is slow but it is looking good.

I should have an ECU to play with within the next few days :D

good stuff - it would be interesting to know if/how it controls the engine Rad Fans.....and if a temperature is pre programmed for switching them on/off.....

The schematics shows it controlling three fans, two of which operate as a pair.

Composite ECU connection diagram - 9 circuits still to conect
Image

mike - The connections show that the ECU definitely plays a part in the control of both radiaor and scavenger fans. When I get the final connections made, I'll print an A1 so that I can see it all easier. From first appearances, it would appear that there are more items that also have an input.

Rhinoman - The 3 fans are as follows:
The single fan (single speed) is the scavenger fan, situated just in front of the engine and angled up such that when running, it blows upwards to the cylinder head vicinity. The schematics should show what triggers it but I suspect a temperature sensor within the engine bay (not the water temperature sensor).
The other 2 fans are the radiator fans, and are both dual speed. However, the fans are different in that one is a 7 blade and the other is a 5 blade. According to lushprojects, both have identical motors. You may have also noticed from the schematics that they have different size fuses protecting their respective circuits. I'm no sparky, but the 5 and 7 blade difference may account for the different fuse ratings.

I may have missed it Steve, does the ECU still receive power when the ignition is off?
