Wife now informs me the high coolant alarm went off not high temp, and gave me temp reading from cheap gauge not the tm2!!.ive got a cheapo one fitted to top hose stud as well as haydon.
The cheapo one is faulty!now in bin
Yesterday spent all day flushing out system and bleeding, think this time ive sorted it at last, been blastibg up and down dual carrageway for 2hours,and normal temps and coolant possirion.coolant level spot on this mornng.

nooooo went kauput again this morning! coolant rising up to cap ,the level was fine in tank from cold.
prob done 150m milles since th ebig bleeding session sunday.
took it to the garage and they presure tested it found no leak, tested for exhaust gasses in coolant(pass),and they dont know whats going on.
i left it there overnight and they will do the same again in the morning, was sudgested that the water pump is either leaking or sucking in air.
They said they dont like to throw parts at it,but i think a new pump and stat is a start!!
ahhh doing my nut in

It does sound like the head is goosed.
Re: help!!!! coolant rises then gets too hot?? water pump??
well, just off to pick it up..
just dont know what is the best plan to take..
quoted 1k to remove head, presure test block and re fit new head gasket.
1200 for a new head and gasket
or 1800 for a whole engine.

Give Tom at Bellhill a call in the morning and see what he suggests. He's always been an invaluable source of information. While it could be a cracked block, I've only ever heard of one van where this has definitely happened, so it's more likely to be gasket or head. If you do get the head tested, try to get it done somewhere that can get it up to temperature first as that is when any cracks are more likely to become apparent.
If you go for new head or get the old one tested and skimmed, do some research on 'decking the block' to ensure you've got a flat surface to refit it to. Also consider using Wellseal when it is being re-assembled and finally fit new water pump, cambelt and tensioner too.
Fingers crossed for you.

cool thanks,still not sorted it!
They fitted a stat and said it was faulty, and found water pump had a leek on it..
to going to have to have a really really good look round under the bongo 2mrw,i still have a hunch there maybe a leak where my veg oil heaterchanger joins to rear heater hoses,or may the hoses them selfs are leaking as they look a but old and cracked.got to go on whats happend before. As these hoses ar elow down spose it could suck in air.....
I did notice they were wet the other day but thought it must have been condensation build up.??

Have you got the old stat? Can you post up some pics of it? cos it may tell a story.
