Not got to that part yet but I think it must. According to the manual, pin 2B on the ECU is shown as being connected to the batery and the signal name is 'Back up power'. This implies (to me anyway) that the ECU is permantly powered. Thinking about it, it must be powered or the fans wouldn't kick in when you remove the ignition key ................(would they?).

Yes it does Pin 2B;

Stand corrected (by Geoff) It is 2B and NOT 3B as I said :roll: Weeeeeeeeell, you can't get it right ALL the time :oops: :oops:

I will take your word for it, electrickery is my Achilles heel. Is the power just for the memory? Can the ECU supply power to the fans when ignition is off? I suspect if it does it does it via a negative feed to a relay. Is this correct, or am I barking up the wrong ECU............. :lol: :lol: :lol:

To complete the ECU schematic, I am looking for the circuits connected to ECU pins:
2D, 2E, 2O, 2P
3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 3J, 3L, 3R
Can you point me in the right direction? or even better, can you email the relevant pages so I can print them off please?

No idea on this one. From the diagrams, for the fan motor to work, the coil needs to be energised, and I can't see where it would get the power from. :roll: :roll: We need a sparky pronto.

According to the schematics only the scavenger fan can run when the engine is off.
1995 Ford Freda, 2.5TD, auto, AFT, side conversion.

Can't say specifically as I don't have a circuit diagram for the ECU, but more than just the memory as things like the Scavenger Fan relay are operated from it when the Ignition is off!
But there are two other power connections Pins 1C & 1D that are switched via the Ignition key - part of this might be safety as you don't want other fans etc kicking in if it goes wrong!
Which side is switched depends on the load, Relays and Solenoids are seem to be high-side switched (supplied with +12v) whilst dashboard lights etc are given an earth to light them.
