I don't know of many places in Bangor apart from the pier
http://www.theheritagetrail.co.uk/piers ... 20pier.htm as loopyloo said
and the cathedral
http://www.churchinwales.org.uk/bangor/cathedral/
oh and of course the bridges
http://www.anglesey-history.co.uk/places/bridges/
actually I'll have a check see if you can drive under Menai Bridge now
The library thing goes on til 1pm so we could meet at the pub by the pier if everyone fancies it?
The only other place I know nearby that does good grub is the Four Crosses
http://www.fourcrossesinn.co.uk/index.p ... e&Itemid=1
There's Oriel Ynys Mon in Llangefni who are doing welsh spoon making for kids, £3 a head at 11am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-3pm but you need to book.
http://www.anglesey.gov.uk/eventdetails ... event=1565
It's a fab place for old and young, exhibitions and local history
http://www.attractionsnorthwales.co.uk/ ... l-ynys-mon
At the moment there's the Iwan Gwyn Parry Exhibition
http://www.anglesey.gov.uk/eventdetails ... event=1533
Plas Newydd are advertising an event for St Dwynwen's Day, but when I rang them they knew nothing about it
Or of course there's always a walk through the forest or on the beach over to Llanddwyn Island
http://www.visitanglesey.co.uk/en-GB/st ... y-992.aspx which is only a mile or two from the campsite
and a mile from the campsite is a cafe open this weekend which is not far from the stepping stones over the Afon Braint
http://www.britishwalks.org/walks/2003/407.php
there's also a walk nearby over dunes and through fields to the estuary where wild horses roam and I got a bit scared when some cows followed us last time we went
There's not much to do round here

Any pub with food and beer for lunch will do
Might have to take a look at the homegrown stuff for dinner Saturday night
Can't wait... only 3 more days of work for us and we're ready to roll ... yay!

I went there today to get you some cheese and they had too many to choose from...so I didn't get any

Was it good though? We'll probably need to shop on Saturday afternoon for food for BBQ or to cook in the Bongo... won't be as fancy as Muz's food though, might have to be pot noodles..

We've got all our ingredients for Saturday, anyone is welcome to partake but I must forewarn you it has some unmentionable bits of pig sourced from Spain (well, Edinburgh but it's close

)
Anything with chorizo & morcilla has got to be a winner

So are we looking at whoever wants to go and see Derek and Sali Mali on Sat morning heading to Bangor, and then maybe all meet up at the pier and have lunch in the pub opposite who does the stotties (Tap & Spile)
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tap-And-Spile/55502202735
Used to frequent that pub a lot in my student days - great food and real ale too.
Muz - are your ingredients for lunch or supper?
What to do in the afternoon, bearing in mind it still goes dark quite early. Head back to camp and start partying early

or find a quick something to do. Beaumaris is always nice! Pop to Waitrose in Menai Bridge on the way for some Royal spotting??
Any thoughts?? Come ont Debs - thought you'd have load of suggestions!!
Andrew
