I’ve read the helpful factsheet (and scanned the forum) on this in the member’s area, but I’m still not absolutely clear which engine oil to buy, or indeed where to get it.

Could someone recommend a good oil that I might find on the High Street. Mine is an 11 year old diesel vehicle, 100k miles.

From what I can see I could get 5W/30, 10W//40 or 15W/40 as I live on the south coast. Got a bit lost with the rest of the tech spec.

I don’t really want to debate the technical merits, just advice on a good (and cheap!) source. Does anyone sell it on the net?

Can't really advise on local sources cos' you haven't got your location in your profile, but any accessory shop should sell the suitable stuff (even Halfords).

comma eurotech synthetic blend 10/40 cf api rated is a decent oil,in the northwest prices are around £10 - £12 for 5 litres shpuld be available from most motor factors.

I would go for 5W40 or 10W40 and make sure it is at least CF rated. If it is CF it will be adequate for your engine. Fuchs or Comma or Duckhams or Shell or Mobil or Halfords or whatever takes your fancy.

At 100K miles 15w/40 on the south coast will be fine. TESCO! They always use a major oil company to supply their branded products. It was always Shell. But now may have changed since I have been retired for some years I cannot be certain.
CF is the latest API spec but as your vehicle is 11 years old you could go back as far as CD since that would have been the current spec when the vehicle was manufactured. (The API spec changes approx every 4 years.)
