Bongo Fury

Following on from rear socket problem.... NOW no interior lights/radio/central locking + wing morrors do not work/retract; + red warning door light permanently on + 'flashing 'yellow curley wire[?] button on dash + sink/coolbox/ conversion unit still not working !!!!!!!!!
Am seriously worried now folks...with my coastal trip looking to be deferred if I cannot find the fault[s]. Tried ALL the local Mazda garages and non of them seemed to have any clue !!!! I've an auto electrician coming Tues am to 'have a look'. BUT am hoping one/some of you guys out there will have some idea on what the.... is going on here ????

does your leisure battery power all those things if so is it flat?

If you are a member, there is a factsheet showing what fuse does what in the members area. Might be worth downloading for your auto electrician.

All these faults seem to be on different fuses, though.

No, leisure battery is not flat....to best of my knowlege...plus not used it yet !

Yes Trevor I have downloaded picture/info on facts sheet, ready for the electrician. Also have checked and re-checked the fuses too.

By heck Pam, you don't do things by half - these things are not even on the same circuits Afraid I have no idea where to start with so many things, but, as it's only just happened and they all went at the same time, hopefully it will be something simple - good luck.

their is something not right their dizzy.

with everything going like that and you say youve checked the fuses, their must be something wrong with the wiring somewhere, something crossing over and touching sumat else.

have you tried takeing off the battery terminals and leaving them off for a few minutes then re attach them? (reset your system).

have you touched moved any wiring, batterys ect? if so double check make sure they are on right or not touching any part of the car body or any other wiring

ps. have you checked the MAIN fuses under the engine bay?

Might also be worth checking the leisure battery's earth connection. The battery may be fine in itself, but if it's not earthed to the car body.........

Here's a thought Yorkshirelass. Provided the car is driving OK then you could theoretically set off. Supposing various BF members - and I know many have said to look them up when passing through - put the kettle on and helped you to check it out as you pass their neck of the woods. I bet you'd have it all sorted in no time.

I'm sure I've seen explanations for the trouble you are having, in various posts on BF (the thing about the coily light on the dash rings a bell). I suspect its not life threatening, just alarming. While you are travelling towards them I'm sure they'll be looking up old threads, getting advice from other BF members and will be ready to have a look at it when you arrive.

There is an element of risk in this trategy but then there is any element of risk taking a Bongo round the coast of Britain. If I were you, I'd want to be off on the road ASAP if possible and it would be great fun to meet BF people on the way.

Of course, all this depends on coastal / en route BF members being willing to take up the challenge. Anyone up for this guys? I'd offer but there's not a lot of coastline around Manchester (+ I'm no leccy techie).

Just a thought anyway

Thanks ...aagain Mike, I can see what you mean here...I'm just worried I will blow up the engine or something equally disastrous !!!!! I am not going to drive it tomorrow..just in case, and will now wait for the lecky man to, hopefully, wave his magic wand !!!! I know all you guys would help me if you could, and am so looking forward to accepting offered hospitality en-route/meeting other BF members/swopping info etc. It will make my journey even more memorable.
Now, I wait til Tues, and will let you all know how I've got on, plus any info I can share re this/these probs.

l had the same fault today ,found a blown fuse 32 volt
this fuse was found strapped to the fuse box just to the left
of the main battery. Blue in colour with the numbers in white
09----60 hope this helps

frankie dee - I KNEW IT! I remember it was something simple like that. Fingers crossed it will turn out to be nothing YL - probably a fuse got blown while the other leccy work was being done (I managed to do that when fitting my BMW clock)

l had the same fault today ,found a blown fuse 32 volt

It seems as if you have been through the wars with your bongo recently. As someone who diagnoses electrical/ system faults i know it is virtually impossible to do it over the phone line unless i know the full history and a a step by step sequence of events as to what wiring changes were carried out and even then it may prove difficult without the wiring digrams (available from the club for about a tenner).
so where to go from here. Hopefully your auto electrician will solve things but before he arrives create a check sheet listing all items that work correctly and those that don't. check every fuse to be ok (one at a time and make sure the correct fuse goes back into the correct holder). and look for any loose connections or cables that dont appear to connect anywhere under the dashboard- a word of warning though dont do anything with them until they are identified as being spare cables for optional extras etc. but just identify them prior to the auto electrician arriving as they are all paid by the hour and anything you can do to speed up the diagnosis will save you money. once again without actually being ther its difficult to give any further advice. perhaps another Bongo owner nearby will let you look at his Bongo to see if its the same as yours for wiring etc ( it may show something obvious) best of luck, if you get nowhere get back in touch.
