Hi Guys,
Please help - i have had a problem.
This afternoon I was driving around the streets with no problems. I pulled over and parked at the side of the street. then when i pulled off something odd happened. I had no power - my foot was on the floor but i was still just crawling along. Took ages to speed up at all and i had to drive with my hazards on - it was so slow - and i did hear a few strange noises.
I managed to get to my husbands work and turned the engine off - called my hubby and he came out and turned the bongo back on and drove off like normal - no problems
Can anyone suggest what may have happened please?

no warning lights and no i did not have the hand brake on - there was just no power - it was as if it could not get out of 1st gear but it was not revving high even with my foot to the floor.
it was not overheating either
it was very strange. :-(

Sorry.......I should have asked

"Is there perhaps a slightest possibility the preferred parking brake and auxilliary retardation device could have inadvertantly been applied by unforseen forces or a family pet?"

Nice one Dandy.

Just an idea-

Could it be possible, that it was the throttle cable sticking? has anyone heard of this in Bongos before?

...and you are quite sure you didnt put it into S1 or L1 (or whatever its called) instead of D when moving the gear selector?

May have been some dirt in the fuel strainer causing fuel starvation which has cleared its self .... could be worth while getting it out and giving it a clean with some cotton buds.... had similiar problems before myself though not as bad as yours sounds,( bongo wont pick up properly and struggles to rev past 2000 RPM, really bad on hills)... I reckon my tank has some rust on the inside and have now fitted an inline filter in the fuel line up stream of the fuel strainer to catch anything before it reaches the mesh which is very small and fine and easily blocked.......its been discussed before on the forum and there's pictures posted somewhere ...try running a search fuel strainer.... :)

thanks for all the suggestions
I know it was in d as i tried putting it in the other gears to see if it would help

this is exactly what it was like - but my hubby says we already have the extra filter

i hope it will not happen again,
