Ok so I'm not very attentive at times.....
I've had my Bongo for just over a year now and this morning only noticed for the first time that on the cover of the rear cig lighter it states "100A/C / 12V DC".
So how's that work then? I gather the 100A/C is for Japanese voltage but how is routed through to the same DC outlet?

If you remove the side panel, you will find a small converter which feeds the 100 volt socket.
You could remove it completely as it serves no useful or ornamental purpose, unless you have a device
which uses a very small current at that voltage.

Hi Ian - if youv'e got the wiring CD, the circuit is shown on page 128 (1997 version) it shows the A/C unit in a dotted box, and I take that to mean an optional extra. It certainly looks a bit of a weird arrangement.

Can you use the rear cig lighter for anything - ie a 12 v item with a cig lighter plug? - I saw it in mine, but try to keep electrical item usage to a minimum when camping (save it all up to power the fridge and keep the Pimms cold!!) so didnt take a lot of notice. Wonder if I could charge my mobile off it?

I use mine for the coolbox when on the move. Seems OK at doing that!

I rewired the rear outlet to a fused feed off the leisure battery so it wouldn't provide A/C even if I wanted to. I was mildly curious that's all and surprised I didn't notice it when doing the wiring last summer. Thanks for the replies.
