Speedo in kmh - best course of action?

Hello again,
My Bongo Speedo reads in kmh, and it's already driving me mad.
What's the best course of action?
1. Buy this stick on fascia:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MAZDA-BONGO-FORD- ... 76372915QQ
2. Chip it (read posts on here advising against)
3. Buy a clock out of a 626/MX6? (how much do these go for?)
Also, will the 626 clock give me miles on the odometer too? (preferable, but not essential),
My thanks
James.

If you can 3 every thing works in miles
price can be anything from £10 to £50 depending on where you get it from

thanks Rob
Any easy way of 'clocking' the new clock to show the correct figure (as opposed to the mileage of the scrapped 626?)

Interestingly, AFAIK, although you won't fail an MOT with a kph speedo, it is not legal to drive a car in the UK without mph markings on your speedo. So, if you bought it from a dealer, ask them to make your vehicle road legal.
But a faceplate it the way to go if you have Japanese service history certifying the 'mileage'. That way you can prove the distance travelled is genuine, as you keep the odometer in km. Once you change the odometer to miles, you can't prove the 'mileage'.

We got an mph faceplate fitted by Bell Hill Garage so the speed reads in miles but the distance in kmh. It seemed to run better without the chip too.

Well it wasn't dealer purchased, and I'm not too bothered about losing the mileage proof by swopping the clocks so I'm on the look out for a 626 speedo. So far, no luck, they seem as rare as hen's teeth!!
Anyone got a spare one?!
Cheers for the help all.
James.
PS@ Rob: - thanks neighbour. Tried to upload a pic but need to shrink it to 21kb first... harder than I thought that, Vista only wants to shrink as far as 24k!!

Upload your pic to photobucket and use the online tools to auto set it for forums.
as for the speedo if you want we can chip it for now as I have a chip i am not using until you find a 626 speedo
the chip worked fine on mine

Hi,
make sure it's from a mid 90's 626 or mid 90's MX6 and has GA5R on the face.
There are a couple of people breaking mid 90's 626's on ebay at the mo

Still trying to get an MPH speedo from a 626.
I've had a couple of breakers say that their 626 has a speedo without any code on the face. Does anyone know if these definitely don't fit, or if the GA5R code is maybe on the back? (i.e hidden when installed)
Cheers
James.

the ones without ga5r may be newer models its definatly printed on the face.
the offer of my old chip is still on.
You can have that and try it, it will reed the speed in miles but the odometer will still show kms
If you want a drive to the mud we can sort it until you get a 626 speedo
