Hope this is clear

I'm surprized that nobody on here that has replaced the mirror glass hasn't responded to this

I've never done mine

So i can only summise to a technique that can be employed.
I'd try removing the broken glass by prising it off using a flat headed screwdriver, (the glass is already broken, so nothing to lose there) When you have managed it, you can see how the lens is anchored (i'm guessing a ball & socket set up,probably plastic) Once you have determined how it is anchored, you can then hopefully remove the unbroken lens without damaging it.

As you have a good glass in a damaged case..I would...cut the case away at the back...see what the score is and keep cutting the case till you have the mirror.
Then..
By now you should have some idea how it all goes together....Bash the broken glass out of your good case and refit the replacement..

Not yet kirsty, Haydn very kindly sent me out a broken armed rear mirror, with the glass still intact, i have yet to try to remove the glass though, i may have a complete spare mirror that has since cropped up, so the original mirror that haydn sent me may be able to be passed on to some body else (if that's ok with haydn of course)

I've got a cracked mirror and have been waiting for someone to describe how to replace it.
So if all parties concerned are interested and willing to pass Haydn's ex on to me I would be up for the challenge of seeing if its possible.

You carefully break out the old mirror pieces. Then heat up the plastic surround until it expands, you'll find the new glass will drop into place. Don't turn it upside down while it's warm - leave it to cool and it will be a snug fit. Allan's fixed about 10 of these, he heats them up in front of a diesel heater.

For the record the heating method worked a treat.
I actually heated mine in the oven (wife out of the house). 200 degrees for not too long. The plastic expands quite rapidly. Fitted the glass and it was a complete success.
