Have you tried fishing on the camp site river bank? I spent several hours without even a bite. I don't think others did much better.

Been there done that. The trick is to take a few tins down to the bank. put them in to "cool" and happy fishing. If you catch something.....well done! if not you probably wont mind after a "few".

I have a small lobster pot, i was thinking of throwing it in to see if i could get some crayfish, i caught eels in it on the river wye last year. I like the idea of keeping your cider cool in the water, i can imagine dozens of coolboxes with the owners names on, lining the banks of the river, just those who havnt got a hook up.

Rubbish, it's excellent fishing

(for small perch anyway

) I have to agree that it wasn't the most active fishing I've come across

All I got was a total of 5 little perch from 2 trips, float fishing with maggots near the bank. Ledgering with maggots, bread or corn produced no bites at all
There used to be sizeable chub and barbel in that river, but they didn't want to play

That part of the river was always known as a winter venue. Further down the river is supposed to be better towards Bewdley / Bridgenorth. There are a lot of good carp pools close including Larford one of the best in the country. Larford has a river section as well but I don’t river fish so perhaps someone can throw some light on the subject.

Not really interested in a match. Last year me and my boy had fun with the perch and a couple of roach but it was very slow there. Maybe we could arrange a day out somewhere else, another part of the river or a lake somewhere. My boy loves fishing when he is catching something, he is unbearable when not tho.
