No boost until 3200rpm

Thought I'd start a new thread as I now have a better understanding of my problem.

As the title says, my boost isn't kicking in till 3200rpm. When the engine is cold it kicks in at about 2600rpm.

So far I've
Checked all filters and banjo - OK
Checked hoses - OK
Changed Wastegate
Fitted K&N air filter
Ran with banjo out (have now replaced)
Blocked off EGR

I get a hiss of air when I open my fuel cap. Is this normal? I've tryed running it with fuel cap off, but still no cure.

Even taken it back to where I brought it, they don't have a clue either.
Could it be the injector pump or something like that? What about the TPS?

Really starting to bug me now. loosing faith in my bongo

Turbo I'm assuming, usually kicks in around 2000rpm.

The boost from the turbo.

It kicks down OK, but there's no power until 3200rpm then I get a huge boost from the turbo and off it goes, but as soon as it changes up a gear and the revs drop below 3200rpm I loose all power until I put my foot down and it kicks down again.

If it is & youu need a turbo, they turn up on ebay at around the £65 mark but check this thread http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =3&t=30709

As some advertised ones aren't quite as they seem.

There's a small bore rubber pipe from the inlet manifold to a diaphragm on top of the fuel pump - is it connected/blocked with crud? It allows excess fuel to accompany the turbo boost.

It can be when running low on fuel/Tank near empty...?

Everything seems fine with the pipe. It's connected and there's no blockage. I can feel the air coming out when I rev the engine.

Does the pipe go to the TPS?
Could my TPS be knackered? is there anyway of testing it?

No, pipe goes to the pump - a faulty TPS is usually accompanied by faulty gear changes - it doesn't affect the pump/turbo on early models

OK. I've been told it might be the boost controll sensor. Does anyone know where it is and could this be my problem?

Hi Kiteman!

Did you get this resolved? I have a bit of a similar problem. Just bought a slightly under-powered Bongo and its boost isn't there until 3000ish.

I've not had time to service it properly, to get all the possibles out of the way yet. Just wondering if you sorted yours.

Cheers,
Al.

Me too. I understand that Kiteman had his ECU and injector pump replaced.

What engine/year is yours Al?

Have you checked all the usual stuff:

Air filter,
Fuel Filter,
Banjo (thimble) gauze filter.

Has yours always been like this?

I would like to get to the bottom of this.

Also, mine seems to be worse when hot after a good run.

Is the rev counter misreading? :?
