mid and backbox replacing with flexi HELP

Was gonna replace the mid section with flexi hose and possibly the back box.
Is it better to put a stainless back box ,second hand, off fleabay?
Or just replace the whole lot with flexi hose?
Where is a cheap place to get the flexi pipe?
What if the bend between the mid and back is all rusted, can you just remove what i assume is the egr and blank this off.
Then join the flexi to the back box or just use all flexi.
Seems to be two or three different ways to do it.

Some of this is personal preference and has been discussed several times. :) A 'search' found these links which you may or may not find useful: Flexi exhaust section, why, what for and is it needed? and Stainless steel exhausts, any recommendations and Replacement back box exhaust Someone will be along to discuss your other questions. :)

thanks doone.
I wasn't being lazy  , ive read through quite a few posts. its just some of the posts were a bit old and i wasn't sure if anything had changed since then.
Now getting to grips with the egr.
then droplinks.
then skint
then no money for diesel
But seriously these are just wear and tear items and to be expected that these will need doing at some point.
Still impressed with the thought thats gone into putting these 12 year olds together.
Some of the engineering is quite modern.
Like a good malt they get better with age.

The egr has nothing to do with the exhaust piping, it runs from a connection at the back of the turbo round the back of the engine through the egr valve to the front elbow of the air inlet manifold.
I suspect you are getting confused with the cold start winter pack valve jobby, have you got 2 batteries fitted as standard & a switch by your right knee on thr dash with a piccy of an engine on it?
Best thing you can do with this is get rid, before you press it & it siezes shut.
Are you proposing removing both mid & back box from thre exhaust system? not sure whether this'll pass an mot/attract the attention of plod depending on noise levels.
I think most people seem to replace the middle box, a few have gone for replacing the rear section with a straight through flexi section

Thanks missfixit.
youre right. i was just trawling the winter pack saga i assume i just remove the lot and fit longer mid section then the switch wont do anything. i think it will be flexi middle and a second hand stainless universal back box from ebay. I wonder if anybody already makes these flexi pipes already done with exhaust flanges already welded on ,if not i may be starting another ''bongo ebay business'' lol

Just binned the back box on mine and gone for a custom made stainless pipe(as suggested on ere  )

Looks great, sounds slightly boy racer, seems to pull better, plus half a ton of mild steel off the back end gotta be good for consumption... =D>

Pricewise you'll be looking at £80-£100 depends on the pimped chrome tailpipe.

Cheers Steve.

Company called E.T.S.
They only have about 6 branches mainly around Notts and Derby areas and not all do the stainless jobbys.

:D

Yeah, i was looking at their system £249 plus p and p,
but it was s little expensive.
But what really puy me off the full stainless was the fact that it had to be checked yearly for the guarantee to be valid .
I just assumed this would be more expense.
I,ve ordered 1.5 meters of steel flexi and will buy a stainless universal back box £ 50 to £80.
With fitings i'm lookin at £130 max.
The only bit that may ever need done again is the flexi.
Ijust can't justify £ 250 for something that swings about in the crud all day long, and cant really be seen.
Thanks for the advice guys i was gonna post some pics when its done but it will just look like vanvliet and ford tinny's thanks for the idea guys.
