mangled trim

Following my first camping trip last week I decided what the Bongo needed was blackout blinds, I got the fact sheet for washing the blinds for the instructions on removing them. I've only got one out so far and have put a hole in the roof, lost a bolt down the side of the trim, ot one of the trim clips stuck in the hole but not attached to the trim and can't get the rest of the clips to go in.
Maybe it's just my incompetence but reckon there should be more warning on the fact sheets that doing this isn't as easy as it's made to sound.
Does anyone have any tips and tricks for removing and reattaching the trim?
Also how can I get the trim clip out of the metal hole, now it's no longer attached to the trim?
All help much appreciated, though not as much as the beer I'm using to drown my sorrows.

If you get pliers on the clip and twist it 90 degrees it will come out easy, or just pull it out with force

.

I meant to give the pliers and rest of the trim a go tonight, but have sat on the sofa and snoozed instead.
Any tips for getting the trim off correctly in the first place?

I'm lucky - I never got into as much mess as you have as I couldn't even get the trim off. Weakling that I am
Poor soul - I really sympathise you as it's a job I still want to do and can see myself in your position if I ever get past the first hurdle (have tried on three separate occasions

). I hope everything becomes easier and that any damage you have done is easily fixed.
Looking forward to the trim removal hints, folks.

I'm not taking mine off now, looks like a load of trouble.
Sorry to here of your woes, but I use PG tips when in trouble followed by a few pints of Tetley.

I find the easiest way is to run my hand to where it's clipped in & pull at that point..
If the clip gets left behind, hook a thin piece of through the hole on the bit that grips to the trim & pull out with some thin pliers... if the pliers slip the wire loop created stops it falling into any cavity's.. (Providing you hold the wire loop.)

I cleaned my blinds with Tesco spray on foam upholstery cleaner (cheap). After a couple of applications and cleaning off, they looked great and have remained so.
