Bongo Fury

Hello!

About a month ago my bongo started to judder when it is started up after a few hours of standing. Whilst it is juddering, it is also smoking out of the back. After a couple of minutes of driving, it settles down and stops juddering/smoking. Is this early onset of swine flu?????? Seriously, if anyone has any suggestions, it would be much appreciated

If it's white smoke (not steam), it's probably duff glow plugs,

1. Are you runnig it on veg oil?

2. Are you giving the glow plugs a few seconds even after the light goes out?

If no to 1 and yes to 2, then I would suggest that your glow plugs are nadgered. Otherwise try doing 2.

I had the same bother, this works for me.

Assuming yours is a diesel - Try leaving the ignition on for an extra three or four seconds after the glowplug light goes out.

If one or more of the plugs are playing up it gives them more chance to do their job & it fires up clean & smooth.

Thank you all so much for your advice, i will look in to purchasing some glow plugs, does anyone have any recommendations as to which type I should get?

NGK Y701R - about £9 each

Theres 2 different types of glow plugs, theres shorter ones and the other set is longer so make sure you get the right ones for yours

I know 1 set of glow plugs is 102mm long and they are the same as on a Ford Ranger pick up, dont know what size the other ones are thoe, someone else may be able to help

The Ford Ranger ones that my local accessory shop had were 83mm - I guess they used both sizes in those as well
