Sometimes the speedometer stays on zero mph when we set off and a bang on the dash will make it work again, any ideas!?

Mine did that when it was chipped. VERY annoying.
Replaced it with a 626 speedo and no problems since.

Maxheadroom may be able to help, might be worth dropping him a pm.

Of course you can - just say I sent ya

It's what the pm system is about, sending a private message, just means you know the message is getting to the person you want it to

Mine used to do it too, and when it did the hold light flashed. Like you, I just used to turn off the ignition and start up again. Cured it in the end by fitting a 626 speedo that I got off ebay. It was indeed the converter chip giving problems.
