Bongo Fury

Hi

I love our Bongo but compared to my Vauxhall Vectra it's very noisy in the cab so thought I might see what could be done to reduce the noise abit.

Did a search on here but didn't turn anything up. Anyone done any extra sound proofing to quieten engine and road noise down?

I used some self adhesive flashing inside the doors & rear panels, definitely helped reduce the "drumming". Pretty sure I remember someone putting extra sound deadening around the engine, try different word combinations in your search, it's there somewhere I think .

you can use dynamat. only thing is it costs loads.

Cool. Will do another search. Though I might fill the space below the cigarette holders in the back with polystyrene balls. Good insulation in the winter and very light too. Probably also find out if there are any holes down there

Have you checked the catches holding the driver's and front passengers seats in place. I felt that my Bongo was a tad noisier than usual on my trip down to Cheshire and back. On investigation I found that I had failed to re fasten one of the catches on the drivers seat after I had removed the seat to check the ATF fluid level.

Good point Tony, the clips can get a bit slack too, a couple of taps with a hammer to bend them in a bit so they tighten down better can work wonders.

I'm not sure dynamat would be a good idea as it restricts heat flow too and a bongo needs all the coolng help it can get

I've not fitted them yet, but I got a complete set (7 pieces) of the sound proofing panels that fit under the seats & under the gear selector. Effectively, you clip these on top of teh existing matting to double their effect. These came from a chap who breaks Bongos & he said he did the same on his van & it made quite a difference.
